Our Mission

Forests, People, Climate (FPC) is a collaborative of philanthropic donors and civil society organizations seeking to halt and reverse tropical deforestation while delivering just, sustainable development. We focus on equitable and enduring solutions that safeguard tropical forests and support those defending them, in particular Indigenous Peoples and local communities.

Through this collaboration, experts, non-governmental organizations, and donors partner to identify the strategic priorities that must be addressed to end and reverse deforestation, mobilize the funding for those priorities, and connect with and strengthen broader networks of partners to move funding to support the work.

Forests, People, Climate focuses on ensuring funding flows to where it is most needed for success, in particular to Indigenous, grassroots, and community-based organizations in tropical forest countries.

A systems approach to
create lasting solutions
to deforestation.

About Us

Forests, People, Climate catalyzes and moves funding to protect and restore forests and support those defending them.

Who's involved?

  • The Climate and Land Use Alliance (CLUA) is the current host for the collaborative and coordinates with other grant makers to ensure funding through the Forests, People, Climate effort reaches those doing the work and, together with those closest to the issues, builds shared strategies around which new and existing donors can align.
  • The Climate Leadership Initiative (CLI) is a donor advisor helping make Forests, People, Climate visible to new climate funders and helping scale the work globally.
  • In collaboration with other partners, the World Resources Institute (WRI) is facilitating a Forests, People, Climate monitoring and learning framework. This framework aims to function as a service to the field, so partners can assess progress of collective efforts in halting and reversing forest loss and securing just, sustainable development, harness critical data and knowledge, inform and strengthen their approaches, and ultimately, ensure success.
